In today’s dentistry aesthetic carvers serve to replace amalgam fillings. They are recommended in cases when the intact denture is incomplete or the tooth can no longer recover with an aesthetic filling. Inlays/Onlays are prepared based on an impression of the teeth, and are suitable for the partial or complete reconstruction of the occlusal surface of the molars.
The Inlay/Onlay is the transition between the filling and the crown, since molars do not need polishing and thus the lifespan of the tooth can be extended by 10-15 years
